Smart Waste Bin

Overview

This innovative smart waste bin design combines sustainable power management with advanced monitoring capabilities. Powered by photovoltaic (PV) panels and batteries, the system continuously monitors temperature, humidity, ambient illuminance, and trash levels. It enhances user interaction through human proximity detection and buttonless control, offering a seamless experience. Leveraging LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity, the smart waste bin efficiently communicates maintenance needs when full and sends timely warnings in case of potentially hazardous conditions. This comprehensive design addresses modern waste management challenges by integrating energy efficiency, environmental monitoring, and smart communication technologies.

System Benefits​:

  • The MCU provides refined low-power performance and an enhanced capacitive touch sensing unit (CTSU2L), supporting a touchless button system to reduce concerns over contaminated surfaces.
