Overview
Description
In high-performance printers, such as plain paper copiers (PPC) and multi-function printers (MFP), various functions are controlled by an ASIC and/or MPU. This design adds a dedicated MCU to enhance functionality and optimize the system. The MCU provides power supply sequencing to reduce system standby current and support rapid startup. Additionally, the MCU serves as an I/O expander, reducing the number of pins required on the ASIC and MPU, thereby optimizing the total system cost.
System Benefits:
- The sequencing function controls the power supply of each block and device, reducing system standby current and enabling rapid startup.
- Total device cost is optimized by reducing the number of ASIC and MPU pins and utilizing a high pin-count MCU as an I/O expander.
- This design is ideal not only for printers but also for ASIC and MPU-equipped systems that require extensive I/O.
