The RH850 MCUs Mainboard Evaluation System provides communication interfaces to the RH850 MCU piggyback boards, offering compatibility across the entire RH850 MCU line for scalable development. The modular evaluation system consists of mainboards and piggyback boards, allowing users to evaluate the features and performance of Renesas 32-bit RH850 microcontrollers.

The Common Main Board is an expansion board to the RH850 and R-Car U5x MCU piggyback boards, adding multiple communication interfaces. The board includes transceivers for standard interfaces (CAN, LIN, SENT, FlexRay) as well as Pmod ports for extension boards. It also provides connectors for add-on boards with high-speed communication interfaces (CAN-XL, Ethernet), for TFT or OLED displays, and motor control ports.

All built-in functions on the common mainboard are enabled via software. The Mainboard Configurator Tool is a Windows-based GUI software designed to activate and configure all peripheral circuits integrated into the common mainboard.

This package includes RL78 firmware that serves as the interface between the processor and the PC-based GUI, enabling and configuring the onboard switches that control the peripheral circuits.
