Portable Power System

Overview

This portable power system is designed for versatile, high-powered charging with multiple input and output options. It supports USB Power Delivery (PD), delivering up to 240W from vehicle power to a USB Type-C® interface, and features a digital power charger capable of 3.6kW. The system includes a digitally controlled buck-boost battery charger with a USB Type-C Port Controller (TCPC) for both charging and discharging, along with solar charging capability and a fuel gauge IC for precise battery management. Built for rapid prototyping, it leverages Renesas evaluation boards, reference designs, and software, enabling quick development and testing. This system is ideal for mobile power banks, off-grid energy solutions, and portable power sources for field applications.

System Benefits:

  • 240W charger with bi-direction functionality compliant with the USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR) standard.
  • 3 to 10 series Li-ion battery fuel gauge IC that integrates an MCU and analog front-end (AFE) within a single package.
  • 3.6KW bi-directional power factor correction (PFC) and dual active bridge (DAB) systems for high efficiency.
