Overview
Description
The Ki wireless power standard, developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), combines wireless power transfer with NFC communication to deliver power wirelessly from integrated surfaces, eliminating the need for traditional cables. This Ki wireless power receiver system (Rx) receives wireless power from the Ki wireless power transceiver system (Tx) integrated beneath surfaces and converts it into regulated power for appliance operation. Through integrated NFC communication, the receiver coordinates power transfer and system control with the transmitter to dynamically regulate wireless power delivery up to 2kW while maintaining high efficiency through low‑loss switching and minimal standby current.
Multiple system configurations support a wide range of use cases, including a connected, high‑end GUI system with rich HMI features, as well as a simplified, compact system for appliances such as kettles.
System Benefits:
- Wireless power reception up to 2kW, supporting scalable power delivery across a wide range of household devices.
- Appliance‑side power control through NFC communication, enabling receivers to regulate Ki transmitter (Tx) output for optimal wireless power efficiency.
- High‑efficiency wireless power conversion enabled by low‑loss switching and minimal standby current.
- Optional Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) or Wi‑Fi® communication to support smartphone control and remote interfaces.
- Flexible appliance integration and scalable design with complete Renesas platform support, including inverter power devices, MCU control, NFC communication, wireless connectivity, and power management.
- System variants support diverse integration models, including:
- High‑end connected GUI design, enabling advanced appliance interaction through a TFT‑based graphical user interface (GUI) with capacitive touch control, with integrated Bluetooth LE or Wi‑Fi for smartphone interaction, monitoring, and appliance integration.
- Simplified compact design without GUI or wireless connectivity, optimized for cordless appliances where minimal user interaction is required, such as kettles and other household devices operating on Ki wireless power surfaces.
