Overview

Description

Continuous, real-time monitoring of essential physiological conditions such as SpO2 is crucial for providing effective care. This medical sensor platform enables next-generation connected healthcare with a compact, low-power design that supports isolated data transmission and power. It includes over-temperature protection for the LED current load switch and integrates additional features that enhance patient safety.

The system's MCU configures the analog front end (AFE), initiates measurements, bundles the measured data with additional information from sensors such as an accelerometer or temperature sensor, and transmits this data via an isolated RS-485 link for patient protection. Paired with an advanced AFE optical front end and sensors to measure ambient influences, the system achieves accurate measurement results that are robust against motion, skin temperature, and inaccuracies due to skin pigmentation.

  • Ultra-low noise, high PSRR power devices provide a clean supply for the AFE's analog and receiver sections, improving LED safety and efficiency while maximizing battery life.
  • The RS-485 transceiver provides EFT transient immunity and ESD protection to maintain signal accuracy and readings, ensuring patient safety while wearing the sensor.
