Description

Pressure control systems are essential in various industrial applications, such as pressure calibrators, electro-pneumatic regulators, and flow control systems. These systems consist of a solenoid valve, pressure sensor, and controller that work together to manage pressure by precisely opening and closing the solenoid valve based on the set pressure. Traditionally, these systems require multiple components, like external analog front-ends (AFEs) and complex controllers, which increase the cost and footprint of the design. Modern trends are shifting towards more integrated, compact, and cost-efficient systems that reduce complexity while maintaining performance.

This design addresses these challenges by utilizing an MCU that integrates a high-precision AFE, eliminating the need for external AFEs, thereby simplifying the design and lowering BOM costs. It also enhances system reliability by minimizing the risk of signal noise that can occur with external components. Additionally, a multiplexer for switching AFE inputs allows for simultaneous measurement of output and supply pressure, enabling fast, accurate, and disturbance-resistant pressure control.

  • The integration of the MCU and high-precision AFE into a single chip eliminates the need for an external dedicated AFE, reducing BOM costs and saving valuable board space.
  • The implementation of a multiplexer for switching the AFE input and measuring output and supply pressure allows for high-speed and disturbance-resistant pressure control.
  • The utilization of the floating point unit (FPU) of the RXv2 core enables accelerated filter calculations and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control calculations, resulting in high accuracy and fast response.
