Description

The RH850/U2C microcontroller (MCU) is built on 28nm technology, offering a combination of high performance and low power consumption to a wide range of automotive applications. Designed with up to two 320 megahertz (MHz) Renesas proprietary cores in a dual-core lock-step structure, the RH850/U2C group MCUs ensure maximum reliability and performance. The MCUs offer low power consumption to increase power-design margins and reduce thermal demands. The RH850 architecture is reliable and has been in production for over 10 years.

In addition to cores, the RH850/U2C group MCUs offer rich connectivity features meeting the latest E/E architecture needs. The MCUs support the latest communication interfaces including Ethernet 10Base-T1S, Ethernet TSN (>100Mbps), CAN-XL, and I3C, and legacy communication interfaces including CAN FD, LIN, UART, CXPI, I2C, I2S, PSI5, and PSI5S. This enables easy interfacing to sensors and other ICs and boards to develop various applications such as chassis, body management systems, and safety. Prioritizing safety and security, Renesas designed and developed RH850/U2C MCUs as per the ISO 26262 ASIL D safety standard and the latest ISO 21434 cybersecurity standard to protect automobiles against cyber-attacks with security functions fulfilling EVITA Full.
