Product: RL78/G11, RL78/G1H, ISL80505
The Wireless Doorbell application uses sub-GHz wireless communication to notify a remote receiver when the doorbell is pressed.
The transmitter and receiver both have a built-in RL78/G1h sub-GHz wireless communication module RL78/G11 for control.
When the transmitter button is pressed, its LED lights up and wireless communication starts. When the receiver receives a signal from the transmitter, its LED starts blinking and the speaker emits sounds.
ISL80505 is used for receiver power management. The ISL80505 is a single-output low-dropout regulator that can supply up to 500mA output current at input from 1.8V to 6V, guaranteeing extremely stable voltage.

Smart Medicine Box
Product: RL78/G13, ISL9120
A solution to ensure consistent medicine intake by patients. Using a dedicated smartphone app, users can setup their phones to display reminders, manage their personal medication status, and much more.
The embedded RL78/G13 MCU communicates with a Wi-Fi module via UART. RTC clock count value can be calibrated and the alarm time set or cleared from the Renesas IoT Sandbox via MQTT. Alarm time data is stored in the data flash.
The ISL9120 Buck-Boost Regulator further enhances power control efficiency.
Handy Vacuum Cleaner
Product: RL78/G1F, ISL94203
This vacuum cleaner reference design enables switching between two operation levels: high or low suction power. The sensorless 3-phase BLDC motor is rotated at high speed to provide the appropriate strength of suction for each level. The battery-driven, cordless operations make vacuuming with one hand a breeze!
The RL78/G1F comes with a built-in programmable gain amplifier (PGA), comparator (CMP0), and PWMOPA for overcurrent detection and PWM output-forced cutoff control. With 120-degree conducting control, the 4-input selectable comparator and motor control auxiliary timer can achieve sensorless rotor position detection even when the motor is stopped or rotating at high-speeds exceeding the maximum 50Krpm.
The ISL94203’s power management provides battery charge and discharge control, current and voltage monitoring, and battery balance control.
Automatic Liquid Dispenser
Product: RL78/G11, ISL9001A
When a hand is detected near the nozzle, the MCU triggers the pump motor and the dispenser emits liquid. The liquid is automatically dispensed without the hand touching any part of the nozzle, resulting in a more hygienic environment.
When a hand comes close to the nozzle, it blocks the transfer of optics between the infrared LED and photo transistor. The MCU detects the change in the photo transistor status, and then activates the motor.
The RL78/G11 MCU operates the system clock with a medium-speed on-chip oscillator, achieving low-power consumption and fast wake-up of 4μs.
The ISL9001A used for power management can source a current of up to 300mA. This regulator helps extend battery life as it supports a wide input voltage range (2.3V~6.5V) while featuring extremely low quiescent current.
Smart Power Strip
Smart power strip is a popular household appliance, which is widely used in intelligent linkage control and power saving of connected devices.
It can control power supply of multiple terminals in conjunction simultaneously, such as mainframe computer (master device) and monitor (slave device). The timer function of RL78/G10 can detect when master outlet is turned on or off and supply power to slave outlet automatically when master outlet is on.
Mini Power Monitor
Mini power monitor is a power meter that can accurately measure power consumption of electric appliances, such as air conditioner & refrigerator.
This application is realized by using RL78/L13’s serial array unit, timer module, buzzer output control and A/D module, etc. It can measure voltage, current, frequency, total energy consumption and CO2 emission values etc., record them in on-chip data flash and display via LCD driver. To prevent fire, buzzer alarm will go off when ambient temperature is higher than 60 °C.
Smart Moisture Sensor

This solution can monitor the temperature and humidity of plants and agriculture soil, and even supply water automatically.
It uses RL78/G11’s moisture sensor to measure the conditions of soil, and transfer the data to smart phone app by RL78/G1D BLE module which can be shown by graph. Additionally, it can control the water valve by outputting motor signal. The system also includes a buzzer to warn user if the soil becomes too dry.
Household Gas Alarm
Product: RL78/G10, ISL28113
This is a system that warns people with flashing LED and buzzing alarm as soon as the change of carbon monoxide concentration is detected due to gas leakage or incomplete combustion etc. Your home safety level could be improved with this simple device.
RL78/G10 controls LED and buzzer by using buzzer output controller. The voltage value obtained by amplifying output voltage of carbon monoxide sensor with ISL28113 (operational amplifier) is converted by A/D converter every second to acquire carbon monoxide concentration data. Buzzer will sound when it judges that warning is required. In addition, with the STOP mode function of RL78/G10, low power consumption control can be realized. The RL78/G10 is a small pin microcontroller best suited for consumer product miniaturization.
Window Alarm with Buzzer
This is a solution that could be installed on windows and door entrance etc., and when vibration caused by outside force is detected, alarm will sound to scare off intruders.
This solution uses RL78/G10 functions such as external interrupt, timer module, buzzer output controller and watchdog timer, etc. In normal situation when there is no vibration, the device will enter STOP mode. When vibration is detected, it will release from STOP mode and sound the alarm. With RL78/G10 STOP mode function, power consumption is suppressed, allowing battery life to last longer.
PM2.5 Monitor with Portable Battery
Product: RL78/L12, ISL97656, ISL6294
This is a portable device that can measure and detect the concentration of PM2.5, an air pollutant in real-time. The density is displayed on LCD panel, and LED color (red/green/blue) shows the air quality. It also has a charging and power supply function as a mobile battery, and displays battery capacity with 4 LEDs. If the preset concentration threshold is exceeded or the battery voltage drops below 2.8 V, it will inform you with a buzzer.
This solution is realized by RL78/L12’s function such as I/O port, A/D converter, buzzer, LCD controller, STOP mode, etc. best suited for small home appliances. In addition, ISL97656 (DC - DC converter IC) controls battery discharge and ISL6294 (battery charger IC) can controls charging. The threshold value and PM2.5 concentration data are saved in EEPROM (if data amount is less than 2 KB, you may also use the data flash built in RL78/L12).
Infrared Human Sensor
This is an application that detects human presence/absence by infrared sensor, and turns on/off high brightness LED automatically. It can be applied to a wide range of applications including office lights and automatic doors... etc.
Infrared LED sending signal is controlled by RL78/G10’s timer array unit (TAU01), and receiving signal is controlled by timer array unit (TAU00) and external interrupt terminal (INTP0). When a person is detected, the high brightness LED will light up. Once the person leaves the detection area after 10 seconds, LED will go off and system will enter infrared receiving signal STOP mode. RL78/G10 hold’s the lowest current consumption in industry and is ideal for human sensor.
Smart Blood Pressure Monitor
The device can check systolic/diastolic blood pressure, pulse rate, etc. and confirm the result and battery percentage with LCD display and smartphone application. Simply press the button on the smart blood pressure monitor or application to start the measurement process automatically. With RL78/L1A, you can operate various sensors and sync your readings to your smartphone by RL78/G1D’s BLE function. The built-in rich peripheral functions realize cost reduction of the set.

Safety Light Curtain
A safety device that can emergently stop the operator when people or object is detected at the pinch point. It controls the infrared emitter (projected side) and receptor (receiving side) from the RL78/G11 microcontroller via an analog multiplexer. The port outputs NPN signal and controls external relay. If the settings are normal and no object detected in the protected area, LED will light up to indicate safety. RL78/G11 is suitable for products with sensor application technology.
High-End Gas Cooker
This solution enables real-time gas concentration detection, flame temperature detection and dry burn detection. When safety issues such as gas leak occur, the electromagnetic valve will close to extinguish fire immediately and sound the alarm. This realizes an ultimately safety stove.
With RL78/G11 enhanced built-in peripherals, such as A/D module, timer module and buzzer output circuit, functions such as gas concentration detection, pulse ignition, ignition feedback, alarm… etc. can be performed without a problem.
Smart Body Fat Scale
By inputting gender, age, height etc. into the device, information for health management such as body fat can be measured easily. The result value calculated from weight and bio-impedance can be displayed on LCD monitor and checked through smartphone application simultaneously.
This solution is accomplished by using RL78/L1A integrated with rich analog peripherals & LCD, and RL78/G1D BLE communication function. It is suitable for healthcare bio-sensing applications.

Water Quality Tester
Check water quality and detect hazardous substances in areas such as industrial wastewater, aquarium… etc. By dipping the front part of the device into the water and gently stir to dislodge any bubbles, TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) can be detected immediately. Measured value will display on the LCD monitor and saved by pressing Hold button for convenient reading and recording. Temperature (°C/°F) can also be displayed by pressing Temp button. The device includes an auto-off function, which will shut off automatically after 5 minutes without use.
Portable Environment Monitor
Environment conditions need to be recorded in various scenarios ranging from agricultural environment investigation to factory audit and energy saving monitoring activities in offices.
Portable environment monitor is a convenient tool that enables real time tracking of temperature, humidity and luminance that could be reflected on the monitor display. This solution suits perfectly for IoT sensor module.
By simply using four keys, you can set high / low limits of temperature, humidity and luminance. The set value is saved in data flash and once the value exceeds, the alarm will buzz and an arrow symbol will be shown on the LCD module.
