4-20mA Current Loop Receiver

Overview

Description

The 4mA to 20mA current loop is the dominant standard for sensor systems in many industries because it is simple to configure and connect. It requires less wiring and fewer connections than other signals, reducing overall system costs. Additionally, it is ideal for large locations, as current does not degrade over long distances like voltage does.

This current loop receiver system uses Renesas' precision digital power monitor (DPM), a stable power source, and the low power processing capabilities of an Arm® Cortex®-based MCU.

System Benefits:

  • Low power and signal processing features of the Arm Cortex-M23 MCU
  • Precision digital power monitoring with low current consumption
  • Stable voltage for low-noise and high-PSRR applications
