xEV Inverter with Inductive Position Sensor (IPS)

Description

Combining an inductive position sensor (IPS) with an xEV inverter reduces costs and BOM compared to a resolver, offering a more efficient and cost-effective design.

System Benefits​:

  • Based on Renesas' research, IPS is over 30% less expensive than resolvers and reduces BOM components
  • Demonstrates verified noise immunity in high-voltage inverter environments (400V, 100kW, 500Arms)
  • Delivers high accuracy (≦0.1% full scale with ideal coil) and supports high-speed rotation (up to 600,000rpm)
  • Offers a compact and lightweight design
  • Allows easy design and optimization of custom IPS Tx/Rx coil patterns
  • Includes sample RDC/ADC software for quick evaluation.
