Overview

Description

Renesas provides a low-cost design for digital instrument clusters and HVAC displays, leveraging an MCU and a video signal processor (VSP) scaler.

System Benefits:

  • Simplifies the development of multiple display resolutions with a single design.
  • Scales cluster graphics easily for various display sizes and resolutions.
  • Optimizes power consumption for automotive environments.
  • Generates cluster graphics in one resolution with the RH850 automotive MCU, which can be scaled to different resolutions using the LCD controller.
  • Upscales 1280x480 resolution primary cluster graphics for an 8” LCD panel to 1920x720 to support a 12.3” panel upgrade option for premium trim vehicle models.
  • Enables "fast boot" functionality to display tell-tale lamps at ignition in under 500ms via the LCD controller, allowing the MCU software time to boot properly.
