Description

Easy-to-use hardware platform for Voice User Interface (VUI) solutions based on the RA4E1 MCU.

This VUI partner-enabled solution is based on the RA family of 32-bit MCUs. The hardware platform is used for all VUI partner-enabled solutions provided by Renesas within the Renesas Ready Partner Network. It demonstrates how easy it is to control your system with a simple voice command interface without extensive coding experience or in-house expertise.

You will build an enhanced working solution that recognizes your own voice commands to trigger the corresponding operation using the Renesas Partner Network Solutions utilizing the Voice Hardware Platform.

Features

  • Hardware Features
    • Compact VUI solution using RA4E1. Small 10mm x 10mm size to fit into the end product.
    • Local voice recognition algorithm, no network connectivity needed.
    • Choices of digital and analog microphones are populated for alternative input options.
    • External QSPI flash memory enhances storage for voice samples and library data.
  • Cyberon DSpotter (PDF) Enabled Features:
    • Global language support of 40+ languages worldwide.
    • Support voice tag function to let a user change command by voice recording.
    • Support voice response function for acknowledge and enhancing user experience.
    • DSMT tool supports wake-word and commands customization, performance tuning, testing, no prior neural network knowledge needed.
  • Low Bill of Materials (BOM) cost and footprint. The minimum requirements are the MCU, one DMIC, and a power supply.

This Design Journey demonstrates how to integrate Renesas RA6/4/2 MCUs with Cyberon DSpotter Voice UI technology to create a local, non-connected speech recognition solution for LED-based light bulb control. By designing a simple circuit and accompanying software, this guide highlights the ease, efficiency, and maintainability of incorporating Voice UI into your product using the RA6 Voice Kit.
White Paper PDF 441 KB
Traditional voice or speech recognition technology is based on a trained model with specific words or phrases. Natural language processing is word-order independent. This requires large computing power to run the real time data through a neural network. The Cyberon approach is different, allowing the algorithms to run on a small, general purpose MCU.
