Description
The iW9801 digital AC/DC controller integrates Renesas' patented adaptive Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) technology to enable ultra-small, lightweight, low-cost, and easily portable power supplies for smartphones, tablets, laptops, power tools, and other portable products. The device operates at high switching frequencies, which allows for a much smaller transformer and passive components, and supports USB Power Delivery 3.0 and 3.1 EPR with Programmable Power Supply (USB PD PPS), along with other RapidCharge protocols at 100W+ output power.
The iW9801 pairs with Renesas' iW709 secondary-side IC, which integrates fast charge protocol support, USB Power Delivery 3.0 Type-C control, and synchronous rectification FET control. It also pairs with Renesas' iW780 secondary-side IC, which supports USB PD 3.1 EPR. The combined chipset offers a complete high-power density AC/DC charging solution, efficiencies up to 94%, and advanced protection features to enable high-power charging with safe, cool operation in a small physical charger size.
The iW9801 also pairs with the iW780 for USB PD 3.1 for single- and multi-port adapters up to 240W.
