48V to 12V DC/DC Conversion for Zonal Micromobility

Overview

This zonal/X-in-1 architecture simplifies e-mobility power distribution by integrating multiple electronic control unit (ECU) functions into zonal control units (ZCUs). For low-voltage (<60V) traction battery systems, distributed DC/DC conversion in each ZCU enables direct use of the protected traction battery supply and can eliminate the 12V auxiliary battery. This approach reduces wiring complexity while providing localized 12V power for ZCU electronics and auxiliary loads.

System Benefits:

  • Eliminates the 12V lead-acid battery to streamline vehicle power architecture
  • Reduces 12V wiring requirements for a simpler electrical system
  • Integrates DC/DC conversion into the zonal architecture, eliminating a separate DC/DC ECU
