IDT Provides New Firmware for its Latest Indoor Air Quality Platform to Support Low-Power Applications

New firmware enables customers to easily configure ZMOD4410 integrated Gas Sensors for low-power applications throughout the home.

December 13, 2018

SAN JOSE, Calif., December 13, 2018 – Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) (NASDAQ: IDTI), has given its ZMOD™ family of integrated gas sensors low-power capabilities with the release of new firmware.  This firmware allows the IDT® ZMOD4410 sensors to be used in a variety of gas sensing applications that require low-power operation, such as smart, battery-powered devices for measuring indoor air quality (IAQ) or controlling HVAC systems. The low power requirements of the ZMOD4410 sensors – approximately 1mW – can maximize battery life in smart devices, dramatically reducing how often batteries have to be replaced and improving the user experience.

“The addition of these new low power features make our ZMOD4410 gas sensors an even more compelling IoT solution for product designers and manufacturers, enabling them to create more innovative, capable and useful products to address indoor air quality,” said Uwe Guenther, general manager of IDT’s industrial group. “This firmware is the latest example of our commitment to keeping our ZMOD4410 integrated gas sensors the industry’s most innovative platform for indoor air quality applications. By expanding our firmware offerings, new capabilities can be continually added to the ZMOD4410 sensors without changing the hardware.”

Complementing the software configurability that supports the addition of new sensing capabilities, the ZMOD4410 sensors can detect volatile organic compounds (VOC) and provide application-specific outputs for room by room configurability, unlike competing solutions with only one type of fixed output. This best-in-class stability and sensitivity for measuring VOCs, volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) and other gases, makes the ZMOD4410 an excellent solution for a wide range of indoor air quality applications, including smart thermostats, air purifiers, smart HVAC equipment and other smart home devices.

The ZMOD4410 sensors are also electrically and chemically tested to ensure consistency from lot to lot, an important advantage for manufacturers with long production runs. The ZMOD4410 devices offer best-in-class reliability as a result of receiving complete qualification for harsh use cases – such as siloxanes – and from an unprecedented life characterization.

The ZMOD4410 is the first member of the ZMOD family. It is available in a 12-pin LGA assembly that measures 3mm x 3mm. Visit www.idt.com/gas to learn more and request samples and evaluation kits, or contact your local IDT sales representative.
