Description
Renesas provides an efficient power distribution network system built on intelligent power device (IPD) technologies. The advanced protection and diagnostic functions of IPDs enhance safety compared to mechanical relays. This system improves reliability and optimizes wiring harnesses with integrated current monitoring capabilities.
System Benefits:
- Reduces the size and weight of fuse boxes by integrating 10 output channels on a compact board, aligning with the smart eFuse (electronic fuse) concept.
- eFuses provide maintenance-free load and wire protection, configurable for various cable types. Their high accuracy significantly reduces the weight of wiring harnesses.
- Software-based eFuses are activated by current-sense feedback from the IPD to the MCU, which is programmed to implement the fuse function.
- Safe parking mode*1 is emulated by activating the IPD and setting the MCU to low-power mode.
*1 Parking mode refers to a car parking situation where selected channels remain active with minimal power consumption.
