The RA Family of MCUs enables a wide variety of end-product designs no longer related to additional costs and efforts. With great scalability and ease of use, the RA Family is the perfect base for a platform.
Every building block of the RA Family is state-of-the-art and backed by our longevity commitment, making your product future-safe for at least the next 15 years. The Renesas RA family is leading-edge in all aspects. We use state-of-the-art Renesas 40nm or 110nm process technology depending on the use cases. The 40nm process is optimized for Flash-based microcontrollers with lowest power consumption and highest performance in mind, whereby the 110nm is optimized for low voltage and lowest power operation. The IP building blocks reflect the long heritage of Renesas MCUs. For the core, we are using the latest Arm® Cortex®-M cores. All software included with our Flexible Software Package FSP is optimized to work with this IP.
The most recent addition to the RA family of Microcontrollers is the RA4M2 group, which expands our offerings with the Arm Cortex-M33 core with TrustZone. The RA4M2 is the optimum foundation for your platform, with the ultimate balance between performance and active power consumption. We use the same software and hardware building blocks for all RA family microcontrollers, so if you need more performance, memory, and communication options, you can move up to the RA4M3 group or even to the RA6 series. If you want to optimize your design, and your requirements are lower standby current, the RA4M1 group or the RA2 series would be the best fit. The strong foundation of security is the same, regardless of the RA MCU group you choose. All MCUs of the RA Family are designed with the mindset to reduce the total system cost from all angles, including software, hardware and certification.
Why choose Renesas RA4M2 for your next design?
- Benefit from active mode power efficiency with 81uA/MHz in Active Mode (while running the CoreMark algorithm from Flash at 100MHz), very low standby current of 0.7mA, and extremely fast wakeup times from standby at 35µs from the middle-speed on-chip oscillator (MOCO), 55µs from the high-speed on-chip Oscillator (HOCO). The RA4M2 group is ideal for performance-hungry applications that need the lowest power.
The enhanced integrated Security Crypto Engine with several cryptography accelerators, key management support, tamper detection and SPA/DPA power analysis resistance in concert with Arm TrustZone makes the RA Family of devices the best choice in the market for connected applications. With these excellent security features, Secure Element functionality can be realized. The RA4M2 group is ideal for IoT applications requiring strong security, rich connectivity, large embedded RAM with parity/ECC and the lowest active power consumption.
RA4M2 is the perfect choice for small to midsized embedded applications with strong security requirements. With the same Flexible Software Package (FSP) as the PSA Certified™ Level 2 RA6M4, the GlobalPlatform® SESIP™1 certified RA4M2 provides identical security capabilities with an optimized MCU feature set and reduced power consumption. This combination enables highly cost-sensitive embedded applications to incorporate an unprecedented level of security.
Capitalize on the strength of the highly optimized feature set with the combination of the latest Arm Cortex-M33 core, increased performance, Renesas’ unique functionalities and market-proven peripherals, and the easy-to-use Flexible Software Package (FSP). Realize endless communication options with rich connectivity with crystal-less USB 2.0 Full-Speed with USB battery charging functionality, SDHI, QSPI, CAN, SPI, I2C, SSI, rich timers, and advanced analog.画像
