Overview

Description

In this reference design, Renesas' Smart Water Shutdown Valve together with our Smart Water Leakage Sensor can automatically control a valve to start or stop water flow. This enables immediate countermeasures without the need for human intervention.

This solution can reduce or completely avoid damage caused by water spilling due to broken pipes via a shutdown of the water supply. In another use case, it can intentionally start water flow to water plants and stop the water when they have sufficient water level. This design utilizes the standard Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) visualization tools to detect high moisture levels or water spills and shut down the valve using the DA16600MOD ultra-low power Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) combo module.
