Description

The Renesas ASSP EASY Motor Control Solution is engineered for evaluating the R9A02G0204 RISC-V ASSP. This kit allows engineers to conveniently test and assess the ASSP's performance with any 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor, such as an AC brushless motor, utilizing an advanced sensorless Field Oriented Control (FOC) algorithm. Its intuitive PC-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) offers real-time monitoring of crucial motor performance parameters and features a distinctive auto-tuning function for motors. For demonstration purposes, the board can be powered directly through a PC's USB port (with power supply limitations), and connectivity can be expanded to additional power stage boards supporting both low-voltage/high-current and high-voltage operation.

This evaluation kit is the ideal solution for validating the key performance characteristics of your target motor ahead of final application system design.

  • External power supply from: 20VDC to 48VDC, Apeak TBD
  • One or three shunt configurations (100mΩ)
  • Switching frequency: 4KHz to 64KHz, 16KHz by default (PWM frequency)
  • Control loop frequency: 4KHz to 16KHz, 8KHz by default
  • Control loop timing:
    • 28µs with motor not driven
    • 92µs with motor-driven

Applications

The 3-phase motor controller block diagram features a cost-optimized  ISC-V 32MHz 32-bit ASSP and supports motor sizes from 12V to 100V.
