I’ve asked some of the engineering team that developed these solution kits to pick up the explanation.

Georgios Flamis:

We carefully designed these AI kits to address engineering and product development challenges commonly faced by system designers. To this end, each kit offers multiple interfaces to operate as a central node for data collection from various sensors for real-time analytics, audio, or vision-driven AI/ML applications.

The AI Kits series offers full compatibility with the Renesas Flexible Software Package (FSP) and a powerful BSP to accommodate embedded software design requirements and accelerate your product development phase and reduce time to market.

Application examples provide a straightforward path to understand and further develop the components for the technology within the AI/ML concept. More specifically, the Asset Movement Recognition (AMR) example utilizes data collection in real time from an accelerometer connected in one of the available Pmod interfaces and accordingly feeds the ML model that has been designed in the Renesas Reality AI Tools® development environment. Each of the movements recognized by the ML model will be indicated by a corresponding flashing LED on the board. Comprehensive documentation and quick start guides are available to assist in starting a new concept.

The AIK-RA6M3 and AIK-RA4E1 boards are designed with as many Pmod modules as possible for connection with different sensors or other peripherals. Both include a TFT module with resistive touch which can be connected to a Pmod module port.

The included Pen Screen demo uses the touchscreen as input for a simple drawing application. The pen color can be changed and it is possible to clear the screen by touching the elements at the top line. In the area below the touch elements is an open space for free line drawing. A simple touchscreen calibration function is also included to fine-tune the accuracy of the pen. The Pen Screen demo is part of a simple drawing project that shows step-by-step how to use the touchscreen as an output and input device. The project makes it easy to get started and carry out your own experiments with the touchscreen.
