A CMOS latch has SET and RESET inputs and one output, changing state when triggered and holding until reset. Transparent latches immediately follow input transitions, propagating changes across shared inputs. Renesas CMOS latches excel in temporary data storage, memory address latches, I/O ports, and bus drivers. Unlike clocked flip-flops, latches are level-triggered and transparent when enabled.
