Collection and Use of Personal Information
Personal Information Generally
We may collect your personally identifiable information ("Personal Information") when you use any of our Web Sites. Personal Information may include your name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, company name, business type, and other information you provide to us (for example in a contact form). When ordering a product or requesting service information, participating in certain promotional activities, completing surveys, and corresponding with us (including via real-time chat), we may ask for certain Personal Information. If you are on a part of any of our Web Sites that requires you to provide your Personal Information, it will be clear what Personal Information we are requesting.
Use of Your Personal Information
Personal Information may be used when you visit any of our Web Sites or click on advertisements or promotional areas on any of our Web Sites. Personal Information is used to help run our Web Sites more efficiently, to gather broad demographic information, to monitor the nature and level of activity on our Web Sites, to contact you regarding our products and services, and to evaluate the effectiveness of advertising and promotion. Personal Information may be collected and used when you request technical support for your Renesas products. Personal Information may be necessary to identify your products or systems, understand the configuration of the products, diagnose your questions, and provide solutions.
Online Surveys and Polling
We may provide you the opportunity to complete surveys or participate in polls on any of our Web Sites. If you participate, we will request certain Personal Information from you. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose Personal Information. The requested Personal Information typically includes contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip or postal code).
Personal Information may be collected and used when you enter a contest or other promotion. In this case, we may ask you for Personal Information such as your name, address and e-mail address to administer the program or activity, to send you promotional e-mails, notify winners and make the winners' list publicly available.
Newsletters and Promotional E-mails
As a service to our customers, we may e-mail to you newsletters, promotional information and other information, using your Personal Information collected online. These e-mails will only be sent to you if you have agreed to receive them. Some of our Web Sites offer publicly accessible blogs or community forums. You should be aware that any information you provide in these areas may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. In some cases, we may not be able to remove your Personal Information, in which case we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

If you contact us (including via real-time chat), we may keep a record of your correspondence or comments, including any information therein.
Sharing your Personal Information
Occasionally, we may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide your Personal Information to the appropriate authorities. We will disclose your Personal Information if required by law, upon receipt of a court order or subpoena, during bankruptcy proceedings, or similar legal process when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, to respond to a government request or to cooperate with a law enforcement investigation. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement authorities any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be unlawful.
User Access and Choice
If your Personal Information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may correct, update, amend, delete/remove, ask to have it removed from a public forum, directory or testimonial on our Web Sites or deactivate it by making the change in your account profile page or by emailing our Customer Support by clicking here or by contacting us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We do not link this automatically collected data to other information we collect about you.
Renesas and our affiliates, or analytics or service providers use technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts, to analyze trends, administer the Web Sites, track users' movements around the Web Site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual and aggregated basis.
For your convenience, Renesas' global Web Sites utilize "single sign-on" functionality. This means that if you login to one of our Web Sites, you will automatically be logged in to Renesas' other Web Sites.
The information collected online permits us to analyze traffic patterns on any of our Web Sites and is used on an anonymized basis. This can enable us over time to provide users with a better experience on any of our Web Sites by improving the content and making it easier to use. The information collected online also allows us to contact you regarding our products and services that may be responsive to your needs or browsing history.
Depending on the browser used, you can set your browser to notify you before you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it, and you can also set your browser to turn off cookies. However, if you do so, some areas of our Web Sites may not function properly, or you will be required to re-enter your Personal Information to use an area of our Web Sites.
We may also use web beacon technologies to better tailor our Web Sites to provide better customer service. A web beacon is a single pixel GIF that allows a web site to count users who have visited that page or access certain cookies. These web beacons may be placed on specific pages across any of our Web Sites. When a visitor accesses these pages, an anonymous notice of that visit is generated which may be processed by us or by our vendors. These web beacons work in conjunction with cookies. If you do not want to associate your anonymous cookie information with your visits to these pages, depending on the browser used, you can set your browser to turn off cookies.
We partner with third parties to either display advertising on our Web Sites or to manage our advertising on other web sites. Our third party partners may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on any of our Web Sites and other sites in order to provide you advertising based upon your browsing activities and interests. We use Local Shared Objects, such as Flash cookies, and Local Storage, such as HTML5, to store content information and preferences. Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our Web Sites or to display advertising based upon your web browsing activity also use Flash cookies or HTML5 to collect and store information. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose Personal Information from children under the age of 13. If we are made aware we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13 years old in a manner that is inconsistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"), we will delete this Personal Information as soon as possible.
Protecting your Personal Information
While Renesas does not guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur, Renesas does take care in maintaining the security of your Personal Information and in preventing unauthorized access to it, both during transmission and once it is received. Data Collection and Transfer outside the EU/EEA
Our Web Sites are operated and administered globally by Renesas Electronics Corporation or its affiliated entities. This means that your Personal Information may be collected and processed by Renesas entities or (on their behalf) by third party service providers outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA). The data protection regulation in the relevant countries where your Personal Information is collected or processed might deviate from the level of protection granted by legislation in the EU/EEA. However, Renesas will ensure the adequate protection of your Personal Information in accordance with the applicable laws and the principles set out herein. By using our Web Sites, you agree with the collection and transfer of your Personal Information outside the EU/EEA as described herein.
We will retain your Personal Information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. We will retain and use your Personal Information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
