Renesas' radiation tolerant plastic-package power management ICs are designed to power and support the emerging field of small satellites (smallsat) that will provide solutions such as high-speed Internet connections to hundreds of millions of users in communities, governments and businesses worldwide. Fleets of hundreds of small satellites will create mega-constellation networks to deliver broadband Internet links from low Earth orbit (LEO) to every corner of the globe, including rural areas without wireless connectivity access. In addition to providing global broadband Internet links, smallsat mega-constellations also offer high-resolution Earth observation imaging for sea, air, and land asset tracking.
Renesas’ rad tolerant plastic package power management IC technology includes switching regulators, PWM controllers and Gallium Nitride (GaN) FET drivers, and provides the optimal cost and radiation performance new space customers demand for 5-year mission profiles in low Earth orbit.
