Overview

Description

In industrial applications, the Controller Area Network (CAN) is the most widely used device-level communication bus, with high reliability and cost performance. Sensors are also widely used in industrial applications to measure, for example, air quality and humidity. This design illustrates a sensor data collection network using the CAN functionality in the Renesas’ Arm® core MCU platform, RA2L1 with an embedded M23 core. CAN transceivers are connected by an isolated RS-485 transceiver and an inverter. Additionally, different Renesas sensor modules work on CAN networks (FS2012, HS3001, ZMOD4410).

System Benefits:

  • Arm® Cortex®-M23 core, running on 48MHz for outstanding performance
  • Encryption library integrated into the MCU for safety communication
  • Robust communication interface implementing high-speed RS-485 transceiver
