Description
The ISL6745A is a low-cost, double-ended, voltage-mode PWM controller designed for half-bridge and full-bridge power supplies and line-regulated bus converters. It provides precise control of switching frequency, adjustable soft-start, and overcurrent shutdown. In addition, the ISL6745A allows for accurate adjustment of MOSFET non-overlap time (dead time) with dead times as low as 35ns, allowing power engineers to optimize the efficiency of open-loop bus converters. The ISL6745A also includes a control voltage input for closed-loop PWM and line voltage feed-forward functions. The ISL6745A is identical to the ISL6745, but is optimized for higher noise environments. Low start-up and operating currents allow for easy biasing in both AC/DC and DC/DC applications. This advanced BiCMOS design also features adjustable switching frequency up to 1MHz, 1A FET drivers, and very low propagation delays for a fast response to overcurrent faults. The ISL6745A is available in a space-saving 10 Ld MSOP package and is assured to meet rated specifications across a wide -40 °C to +105 °C temperature range.
Applications
- Half-bridge converters
- Full-bridge converters
- Line-regulated bus converters

- Application NotePDF 746 KB an1387 Feb 11, 2009AI-generated Summary: The document explains design considerations for white LED driver circuits using standard PWM controllers in off-line applications. It details the selection criteria for inductors, capacitors, and switches in boost and SEPIC converter topologies, focusing on current and voltage stresses, waveform behavior, and conduction modes. The boost converter operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), with equations provided for peak and RMS currents. The SEPIC converter supports output voltages both above and below input voltage, requiring careful inductor and capacitor voltage balancing. The document emphasizes maintaining DCM operation, power factor performance, and ripple current estimation.
- Application NotePDF 397 KB an1684 Jan 19, 2004AI-generated Summary: The document outlines important legal disclaimers and usage guidelines for semiconductor products. It emphasizes user responsibility for product design and safety, disclaims liability for damages, and clarifies no intellectual property licenses are granted. Products are categorized by quality grades with specific application recommendations. Users must comply with laws, avoid unauthorized modifications, and ensure safe use within specified conditions. Contact details for Renesas Electronics sales offices worldwide are provided.
- Application NotePDF 509 KB an1681 Jan 19, 2004AI-generated Summary: The document explains grounding techniques for PCB layouts using a dual op amp example on a single-layer copper board. It compares three grounding schemes: a center spine ground trace, an outer ground plane, and a split/star ground plane, highlighting the benefits of single-point grounding to minimize noise and antenna effects. It emphasizes following current paths, minimizing loop lengths, and ensuring close forward and return paths to reduce interference. The document also includes disclaimers on product use, quality grades, safety, and legal compliance.
