The HIP6006 provides complete control and protection for a DC-DC converter optimized for high-performance microprocessor applications. It is designed to drive two N Channel MOSFETs in a synchronous-rectified buck topology. The HIP6006 integrates all of the control, output adjustment, monitoring and protection functions into a single package. The output voltage of the converter can be precisely regulated to as low as 1. 27V, with a maximum tolerance of ±1% over temperature and line voltage variations. The HIP6006 provides simple, single feedback loop, voltage-mode control with fast transient response. It includes a 200kHz free-running triangle-wave oscillator that is adjustable from below 50kHz to over 1MHz. The error amplifier features a 15MHz gain-bandwidth product and 6V/µs slew rate which enables high converter bandwidth for fast transient performance. The resulting PWM duty ratio ranges from 0% to 100%. The HIP6006 protects against over-current conditions by inhibiting PWM operation. The HIP6006 monitors the current by using the rDS(ON) of the upper MOSFET which eliminates the need for a current sensing resistor.

- Application NotePDF 509 KB an1681 Jan 19, 2004AI-generated Summary: The document explains grounding techniques for PCB layouts using a dual op amp example on a single-layer copper board. It compares three grounding schemes: a center spine ground trace, an outer ground plane, and a split/star ground plane, highlighting the benefits of single-point grounding to minimize noise and antenna effects. It emphasizes following current paths, minimizing loop lengths, and ensuring close forward and return paths to reduce interference. The document also includes disclaimers on product use, quality grades, safety, and legal compliance.
- Application NotePDF 561 KB an9959 Jul 17, 2001AI-generated Summary: The document details the design and operation of a Class I power supply using ISL6160 and HIP6006 ICs, focusing on transient response, output ripple, and overcurrent (OC) protection. It explains the dual OC protection mechanism: ISL6160 limits input current while HIP6006 limits load current with lossless sensing. Design considerations include input/output capacitor selection, MOSFET efficiency trade-offs, output voltage setting, and output inductor choice to optimize ripple and transient response. The ISL6160EVAL2 board supports scalable output voltages from 1.3V to 12V and power up to 50W.
