Description

The RH850/U2B 292-pin piggyback board supports all devices of the RH850/U2B series in a 292-pin package. It can be used standalone or in combination with the mainboard of the RH850 evaluation platform. The modular RH850 evaluation platform, consisting of mainboards and piggyback boards, is a platform for evaluating the features and performance of Renesas 32-bit RH850 microcontrollers.

Features

  • Can be used with all mainboards of the RH850 Evaluation Platform
  • Socket for mounting the MCU
    • MCU is not included and needs to be ordered separately
  • 3.3V or 5.0V single supply voltage via 4mm banana jacks (2x red, 1x black)
  • Device core voltage VDD either from the onboard voltage regulator or via 4mm banana jack (red)
  • 46-pin Aurora Debug Connector to connect a Renesas or third-party emulator
    • To connect the E2 OCD emulator, use the included 46-pin to 14-pin adapter Y-RH850-DEBUG-ADAPTER-F14T46
    • Offering serial flash programming support for the RH850 on-chip flash memory
  • On-board interface connector:
    • Renesas High-Speed Serial I/F (RHSIF)
    • Renesas High-Speed Bus (RHSB)
    • Multichannel Serial Peripheral Interface (MSPI)
  • Each pin of the device is accessible via a 2.54mm pitch connector (double row)
  • External clock circuit with an exchangeable 16MHz, 20MHz, 24MHz, 25MHz, or 40MHz crystal resonator
  • 8x signal LEDs, 3x power supply LEDs (5.0V, 3.3V 1.12V)
  • Reset circuit/switch
  • Jumpers for device mode selection

Applications

AI-generated Summary: The document details the usage of LIN and UART controllers, covering device and IP-level mapping, base addresses, memory vectors, and device adaptation. It includes application examples such as serial and graphics monitor programs, LIN communication tables, and application layer functions. The FAQ section addresses interrupt handling, status information, data reception after errors, self-test failures, and LIN conformance with specification 2.2A. It also provides terminology and issue-solving indexes for quick reference.

AI-generated Summary: The autonomous CAN-FD frame-routing gateway enables efficient frame-level routing across multiple RS-CANFD units using DMA and SDMAC, supporting up to 16 CAN channels with minimal CPU involvement except for error handling. It allows selective ID routing, bit rate and protocol conversion between classical CAN and CAN-FD, and implements the Most Priority First Out (MPFO) principle for transmit queues. The gateway uses RX-FIFOs and transmit queues for message forwarding, with configurable reception rules and resource allocation to balance performance and avoid overflow. Limitations include transmit queue overflow risks when routing to slower channels and a maximum of eight destinations per message. The system supports flexible channel configurations and integrates interrupt-driven exit conditions.
