Description

The ISL74420MDEMO1Z radiation tolerant quad clock fanout IC demonstration board features the plastic version of the ISL74420M. The ISL74420MDEMO1Z is an example of a small-footprint layout with SMD resistors for user-defined power-up configuration.

This board is functionally similar to the ISL74420MEV1Z, which has mechanical configuration switches for easier experimentation with frequency and delay selections. Both versions of the ISL74420M boards support I2C interface, allowing override of the power-up pin-selected configuration.

Before starting an evaluation, please review the ISL74420M datasheet for detailed information about operation, function, and performance, including detailed I2C specifications, helpful links to software tools, and approaches for writing to and reading from the device registers.

The ISL74420MDEMO1Z demonstration board and accompanying manual provide a physical and electrical method to evaluate the stand-alone operation of the ISL74420M.

Features

  • Underside 0Ω resistors for selecting frequency and phase options
  • PCB top to show the minimal components required for implementation
  • Versatile design perfect for plugging into existing designs to provide clocks
  • Ideal clock signals for other boards, such as the ISL73847SEHEV3Z
  • I2C access for software control on internal device registers and associated operation
