Resolver Motor Control Solutions for Consumer and Industrial Applications

Renesas has developed motor solutions using resolver sensors. These solutions optimize resolvers which have been widely applied in automotive applications for motor control in the consumer and industrial fields. A resolver solution that combines a Renesas resolver to digital converter and RX Family 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) not only performs high-precision motor control, but also makes it possible to reduce the size of the motor and improve the environmental resistance of the system.

  • High-precision motor control is possible even in harsh environments with heat, dust or vibration
  • Realize high-precision control at low cost using resolver control with superlative cost performance
  • Resolver signal gain, phase and angle error are automatically corrected through the driver API that can be used in combination with an RX 32-bit MCU to achieve high precision

In particular, the resolver motor control solution using the stepping motor with resolver manufactured by MinebeaMitsumi Inc. can control the motor with high precision even in harsh environments and rotation does not stop even at high loads.

Motor Control Evaluation System

Renesas high-performance MCU and analog and power (A&P) devices are ideally suited for motor control applications. Reference boards mounted with the inverter circuitry necessary for driving the motor and various sample code and application notes are ready to use. Complete motor control evaluation and development tools help reduce time to market, and they are ideal for the following purposes:

Evaluation System for Stepping Motor with Resolver

Stepping Motor Drive Evaluation Kit Using the Renesas Resolver to Digital Converter IC

The Evaluation System for Stepping Motor with Resolver is composed of a motor control MCU, an inverter circuit, a stepping motor with resolver sensor, and a resolver to digital converter IC. In addition, it supports the Renesas Motor Workbench motor control development support tool, which makes it easy to debug software and understand motor control.

Note: The 24V Motor Control Evaluation System for RX23T option CPU card cannot be used to operate the resolver sensor of this kit.

Easy BLDC Motor Control Using RAJ 306000 Motor Control IC

The Renesas Motor Control Evaluation System for RAJ306000 allows you to control a permanent magnet synchronous motor (brushless DC motor) using the RAJ306000 motor control IC. Renesas Motor Workbench 2.0: Motor Control Development Tool 2.0

Using the 24V Motor Control Evaluation System for RX23T, Renesas Motor Workbench can display waveforms of the internal variables of the microcontroller in real time and automatically extract vector control parameters. To download Renesas Motor Workbench, please sign in or register for a My Renesas account.

Renesas Motor Workbench is updated to 2.0.

With this update, high-speed communication of ICS++ (In Circuit Scope plus) by Desk Top Laboratories Inc. has been supported, and functions and usability have been improved. It greatly contributes to improvement of debugging efficiency in the user system.

    • It inputs known parameters and omits the identification of the entered parameters
