Overview

Description

The RAA279971 is a high-definition analog video encoder that is designed for automotive applications. It accepts digital video input using a 2-lane MIPI-CSI2 or a DVP/Pseudo BT.656 parallel interface and supports multiple high-definition resolutions up to 720p/60 or 1080p/30. The RAA279971 uses a built-in 10-bit video DAC that encodes the incoming video stream into an analog composite format that is transmitted to an RAA279972 decoder as a single-ended or differential signal over up to 30 meters of either coax or STP cable.

  1. RAA279974

We would like to use this chip to decode ADHD video.  According to the datasheet The RAA279974 also supports a single traditional NTSC standard definition input. Can it also sometimes handle standard definition (SD) PAL signals?

FAQs

  1. Can I use the AHL Control Channel to initialize the camera from the ECU?

Yes, AHL's Control Channel works immediately after the chips are powered up. The Control Channel operates independently of the video, so video does not need to be actively transmitting for the Control Channel to work.

  2. Does AHL support GPIO data transmission via the Control Channel link?

Yes, there are between 2-7 GPIO's available, depending on which digital interface is used (MIPI = 7 GPIOs, BT.656 = 4 GPIOs, DVP = 2 GPIOs)

  3. Can AHL support power over the same cables (like SerDes)?

No, there will be too much noise for the analog signal, but we are looking at how to include power over the same cables in future generations of AHL.
