High-speed analog output photocouplers (optocouplers) are optically coupled isolators containing a gallium aluminum arsenide (GaAlAs) LED on the light emitting diode (input side) and a PIN photo diode and high-speed amplifier transistor on the output side in a single chip. These devices can be used in a wide variety of high density applications including computer and peripheral devices, general purpose inverters, substitutions for relays and pulse transformers, power supplies, interfaces for measurement or control equipment, and Power over Ethernet, modems and other communications devices.
