Description
RL78/G1D microcontrollers support Bluetooth® Low Energy and realized the lowest level of current consumption in the industry at 4.3mA RF transmission current (0dBm output) and 3.5mA RF receiving current. Since circuit elements necessary for connecting an antenna are built in, not only does this simplify circuit design for the antenna connection, but it also helps reduce the cost of the end product because external parts are not needed. The RL78/G1D module contains the RL78/G1D, a 32MHz crystal resonator for the RF chip, and an antenna, all in a compact (8.95mm x 13.35mm x 1.7mm) module. Moreover, the module inherits the functional pins of the RL78/G1D, so not only can you use it for modem configuration, but you can also leverage the strengths of the microcontroller for embedded configuration. The module has obtained Radio Law (Japan, FCC, IC, and CE) and Bluetooth SIG certification.

- Application NoteAI-generated Summary: The RL78 Family SHA Hash Function Library includes various source files, sample programs, and documentation to support SHA-1 and SHA-256 hash functions. It provides API functions to generate SHA-1 and SHA-256 hash digests, with SHA-256 support enhanced when combined with the RL78/G24 FAA accelerator. The library supports specific compiler environments and requires building designated source files depending on the API used. The FAA accelerator improves SHA processing speed and supports only SHA-256 with certain compilers.Related Files:
- Application NoteAI-generated Summary: The Bluetooth Low Energy Protocol Stack Security Library offers APIs to simplify implementing BLE security features such as pairing, encryption, bonding, and privacy. It supports Central and Peripheral roles and automates key generation and management, privacy functions, and security procedures. The library uses rBLE API under the hood and requires specific initialization and event handling APIs. It facilitates secure BLE communication by protecting against attacks like MITM and managing security keys and addresses.
- Application NoteAI-generated Summary: The document explains how to integrate and use IAR Systems compilers within the e² studio development environment for Renesas microcontrollers. It details the installation of IAR Embedded Workbench and IAR Eclipse plugins, project creation, build configuration, and build execution using IAR compilers. The guide focuses on the RA family with the IAR ARM compiler but applies similarly to other Renesas devices. It also recommends using standalone Flexible Software Package configurators for RA and RZ families to enhance development. The environment setup assumes Windows 10 64-bit, e² studio 2024-07, and IAR tools installed.
- Application NoteAI-generated Summary: The document details self test software routines for RL78 microcontrollers to ensure compliance with IEC60730/60335 Class B safety standards. It covers CPU register tests, internal Flash and SRAM memory checks, system clock verification using independent clock sources, and peripheral tests such as A/D converters and watchdog timers. The self test library offers modular APIs for integration into applications, supporting reliability and safety in automatic electronic control systems like household appliances. The document also includes example usage, benchmarking, and additional hardware resources to assist developers in implementing robust safety functions.Related Files:
- Application NoteAI-generated Summary: The flash programmer writes to the RL78 microcontroller's on-chip flash memory using RL78 Protocol A via serial programming. It uses Raspberry Pi 4 Model B+ as the programmer hardware and requires program files in Motorola S format. The sample program supports single-line or dedicated UART interfaces. Development and operation have been confirmed on Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit with specific GCC and Make versions. Raspberry Pi settings include enabling multiple UARTs via config.txt. Build instructions use standard make commands. The document covers hardware interfaces, software functions, error codes, and flowcharts for flash programming.Related Files:
