Description

The HIP4081A is a high frequency, medium voltage Full Bridge N-Channel FET driver IC, available in 20 lead plastic SOIC and DIP packages. The HIP4081A can drive every possible switch combination except those which would cause a shoot-through condition. The HIP4081A can switch at frequencies up to 1MHz and is well suited to driving Voice Coil Motors, high-frequency switching power amplifiers, and power supplies. For example, the HIP4081A can drive medium voltage brush motors, and two HIP4081As can be used to drive high performance stepper motors, since the short minimum on-time can provide fine micro-stepping capability. Short propagation delays of approximately 55ns maximizes control loop crossover frequencies and dead-times which can be adjusted to near zero to minimize distortion, resulting in rapid, precise control of the driven load. A similar part, the HIP4080A, includes an on-chip input comparator to create a PWM signal from an external triangle wave and to facilitate hysteresis mode switching.

  1. HIP4081A Inputs do not control outputs

Hello,    I have basically made a copy of the evaluation board for the HP4081A attached to a stepper motor.  I use a PIC microcontroller to operate the AHI,ALI,BHI, and BLI pins of the HIP4081A, but the AHO,ALO,BHO, and BLO pins do not respond to the inputs ...

  2. Class E amplifier using TP65H070G4PS

... controller (uC or FGPA). The class E amplifier design works on zero voltage crossing so I need precise control of the gate with minimal waveform shaping. Can you provide some options? I have located the HIP4081A but the current looks like it may be too low for the gate Gq?

  1. HIP4080, HIP4080A, HIP4081 or HIP4081A Spice Model

There is an old Spice model floating around the web and I have attached it for your convenience. It is provided with no warranty and has not been verified. Make sure you read the entire "readme.txt". Below are excerpts from that: MACRO MODELS FOR HIP4080, HIP4080A, HIP4081, AND HIP4081A ...

  2. What are some basic protection circuit suggestions when using HIP4080A and HIP4081A in motor control circuits?

Question:What are some basic protection circuit suggestions when using HIP4080A and HIP4081A in motor control circuits?   Answer: The CR1 and CR2 (bootstrap diodes) - We recommend using a diode with Trr less than 50ns (UF4002, Microsemi Corp.) When you detect shoot-through, one cause could be that the MOSFETs turn ...

  3. Is the charge pump operation on all the time on your HIP4080A and HIP4081A full bridge drivers?

... has low enough input leakage.   There is no minimum operating frequency. Several customers have used the HIP4081A as a dual high-side driver. HIP4080A and HIP4081A both have dual charge pumps. There is no charge pump in the HIP4082. The HIP4080A and HIP4081A will automatically refresh themselves if the upper ...
