Resolver-to-Digital Converters

Renesas digital signal processing (DSP) ICs convert resolver sensor signals for brushless DC motors and stepping motors into angle and position signals compatible with RX MCUs. At the core of this lineup, the RAA306400XGFP is a resolver-to-digital (R/D) conversion IC designed to convert analog resolver detection signals—electrical angle information based on mechanical rotation—from one-phase excitation, two-phase output resolver sensors into precise digital output.

High-speed response scans help reduce takt time beyond what conventional resolver-to-digital converter (RDC) ICs can achieve. Support for both voltage and current detection methods, combined with a built-in winding error correction function, eliminates constraints around resolver manufacturer selection and improves availability of motors and resolvers. Additionally, by leveraging motor control MCU functions that are already required in the system, the RDC circuit is simplified—reducing overall device cost.
