Description
The ISL88731CEVAL2Z evaluation board is used to demonstrate the performance of the ISL88731C SMBus Level 2 battery charger.
The ISL88731C is a highly integrated battery charger controller for Li-ion and Li-ion polymer batteries with an SMBus interface controlling charge voltage, charge current, and input current limiting. The evaluation board includes a USB-to-SMBus interface to allow users to control the ISL88731C from a personal computer.
Features
- Built-in USB-to-SMBus interface lets users control and configure the charger directly from a personal computer using provided control software.
- Provides 0.5% end-of-charge battery voltage accuracy, 3% charge current accuracy, and 3% adapter current limit accuracy.
- Supports an adapter voltage range from +8V to +26V, handling up to 8A of maximum battery charger current and 11A of maximum adapter current.
- Features SMBus 2-wire serial interface communication, battery short-circuit protection, AC adapter detection status output, and automated input current throttling to protect the power adapter from overloading.
