Description

Precision, reliability, and robustness in motor control systems are crucial across industries such as industrial automation, automotive, aerospace, and medical devices. Resolvers play a vital role in achieving these qualities by measuring the position and speed of a rotor. By providing continuous analog feedback, resolvers enhance the system's precision, reliability, and durability, enabling smoother and more precise control of motor speed and position.

This motor control with resolver design features resolver position control for both stepper motor systems and alternative brushless DC (BLDC) motor systems. The stepper motor system delivers a high-performance motor drive unit for office automation and industrial applications such as scanners, multi-function printers, and automated cash deposit machines. Meanwhile, the BLDC motor system provides a high-performance motor drive unit for applications like automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), small vehicles, service robots, and assisted bicycles.

System Benefits:​

  • Sample software accelerates development time and shortens time to market.
  • Replacing optical encoders with resolvers reduces BOM costs.
  • Stepper motor design:
    • Achieves no step-out by servo control with resolver position information, maximizing motor torque, downsizing the motor (one size smaller), and reducing BOM costs by minimizing the gear (speed reducer).
    • Realizes low noise and low vibration through servo control with torque ripple reduction.
  • BLDC motor design:
    • Fine movement/stop control is achieved by servo control using high-precision position information with the high-resolution resolver.
    • Suppresses rotation unevenness and reduces vibration-causing ripple by increasing position resolution and improving speed response.
