Renesas Electronics Corporation

Our comprehensive portfolio of bus multiplexers deliver cost-effective, high-performance solutions tailored to your needs. Innovative yet common footprint compatible, our devices feature low on-resistance and high-speed switching for seamless operation with minimal propagation delay, ground bounce noise, and static power dissipation. We offer bus switches that support a variety of functions, including multiplexing, demultiplexing, analog, and rail-to-rail switching, including, positive to negative supply rail voltages.

Multi- & Demultiplexers

Multi- & Demultiplexers

Analog multiplexers, also known as MUXs or data selectors, select one of many input signals and connect it to a single output or transmission line. Multiplexers reduce the number of required transmission lines by allowing multiple signals to share a single line at different times. Alternatively, demultiplexers take a signal from a single input and switch it to multiple outputs at different times.

Selecting Multiplexers & Demultiplexers

Selecting Multiplexers & Demultiplexers

Key parameters of multiplexers and demultiplexers include:

  • On-resistance: The path resistance when switched on. Renesas' multiplexers/demultiplexers provide an on-resistance of 5ohms.
  • Transition time: The amount of time it takes for the multiplexer/demultiplexer to transition from one input to the next. Renesas’ products transition in 6ns.
  • Bandwidth (-3dB point): The range of acceptable switching frequencies. Renesas’ multiplexers/demultiplexers provide up to 830MHz bandwidth and are ideal for high-performance video signal switching, audio signal switching, and telecom routing applications.
  • Crosstalk: The amount of noise transmitted from one switch/signal to another when in operation. Renesas’ multiplexers/demultiplexers offer excellent crosstalk performance up to -115dB at 50kHz, -100dB at 5MHz, and -66dB at 30MHz.
  • Off-isolation: The isolation of the switches within the device when the switches are off. Renesas’ multiplexers/demultiplexers offer superb off-isolation up to -90dB at 50kHz, -60dB at 5MHz, and -50dB at 30MHz.
