The ISL12028 device is a low power real time clock with clock/calendar, power-fail indicator, clock output and crystal compensation, two periodic or polled alarms (CMOS output), intelligent battery backup switching, CPU Supervisor, integrated 512x8-bit EEPROM configured in 16 bytes per page. The oscillator uses an external, low-cost 32. 768kHz crystal. The real-time clock tracks time with separate registers for hours, minutes and seconds. The device has calendar registers for date, month, year and day of the week. The calendar is accurate through 2099, with automatic leap year correction. The ISL12028 and ISL12028A Power Control Settings are different. The ISL12028 uses the Legacy Mode Setting, and the ISL12028A uses the Standard Mode Setting. Applications that have VBAT > VDD will require only the ISL12028A. Please refer to Power Control Operation on page 14 for more details. Also, please refer to I2C Communications During Battery Backup and LVR Operation on page 25 for important details.

- Application NotePDF 302 KB an1549 Nov 03, 2007AI-generated Summary: Power issues in real-time clock (RTC) applications include voltage spikes during AC turn-on, power glitches, and low or no battery backup voltage. Adding a medium power Schottky diode at the RTC Vpp pin helps clamp voltage spikes. Battery backup maintains time during power loss but fast glitches can corrupt RAM. Circuit designs with resistors and MOSFETs prevent SRAM corruption during power-up. Proper filtering and power-up delays ensure reliable 12C communication and data integrity.
- Application NotePDF 364 KB an1303 Nov 18, 2005AI-generated Summary: The document compares replacing Renesas RTC models X1226, X1227, and X1228 with the ISL12026, ISL12027, and ISL12028 respectively. It details differences in battery switchover behavior, battery current consumption, reset trip voltages, EEPROM page write sizes, status and control registers, RTC register write methods, alarm functions, pin names, and clock input options. The new ISL1202x series offers lower battery current, more accurate reset thresholds, selectable I2C operation modes, and expanded functionality, with some changes requiring software adjustments.

I2C send memory address in read operation
Hello, I'm trying to implement a comunication with a I2C device. I have a RA6M4 microcontroller and just one slave device on I2C. The write operation seems to be good, as far the device has a expected behaviour. But, in read operation, i can not fulfill the sequence of ...
