Description

The ISL73846MEV3Z is an evaluation platform for a two-phase synchronous boost converter, featuring a leader-follower configuration using two ISL73846M radiation-tolerant PWM controllers. Designed for high-reliability applications, the converter steps up a nominal 12V input (10.8V to 13.2V range) to a regulated 28V output, supporting up to 4A of continuous load current.

The interleaved two-phase topology reduces output ripple, improves thermal performance, and enhances overall conversion efficiency. Each phase operates at 500kHz which translates to an effective 1MHz operation. The board uses separate supplies for the ISL73846M: VDD (5V to 19V) powers the control circuitry, while PVDD (8V to 13.2V) powers the gate drive stage, enabling flexible power design.

The ISL73846MEV3Z highlights the ISL73846M's capability to support multi-phase, high-efficiency boost conversion, making it an ideal platform for evaluating radiation-tolerant power solutions in space and other mission-critical systems.
