Industrial Ether-Connectable IoT Sensor Hub

This design showcases an easy-to-build industrial Ethernet-connectable sensor hub that utilizes Renesas' MPU and power products. The system efficiently collects data from sensors connected to the MPU and transmits it to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and/or controllers that comply with specific industrial Ethernet protocols.

System Benefits:

• Supports multiple industrial Ethernet protocols, including EtherCAT^®, Ethernet/IP™, PROFINET^®, Modbus TCP, and OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA), for seamless PLC and controller communication.
• Sensors can be connected via several interfaces, such as CAN, RS-485, and I²C.
• The MPU features a high‑performance Arm^® Cortex^®‑R52 core that delivers fast, deterministic real‑time processing, enabling communication stacks, industrial networking protocols, and application control software to run efficiently on a unified, low‑latency architecture.
• The MPU includes features that help reduce the BOM and the size of the PCB.
