Introduction
Spanning across four distinct series, the Renesas Synergy™ Microcontroller family is designed for end applications ranging from connected mobile devices for the IoT market to high-performance embedded systems controllers.
With a range of performance, features, and pin-compatibility within each series, Synergy MCUs deliver the scalability, power consumption, code-reusability, and performance needs for the embedded market.
Scalable and Compatible
Synergy MCUs are designed to enable high software re-use when migrating from one MCU to another, reduce PCB layout efforts, and increase manufacturing efficiency.
To enable these key benefits, Synergy MCUs maintain drop-in pin-to-pin compatibility across the same packages within each series, as well as peripheral and register compatibility across the family.
Components
At the silicon level, more than 70 different core function and peripheral components are used in different combinations to build devices that comprise the Synergy MCU family. MCU Series
S1 Series - Low Power
Maximize battery life in portable sensor and control applications with the S1 Series, operating down to 1.6V with extreme low power modes and fast wake-up times. Optimize CPU bandwidth and reduce power consumption with integrated features such as hardware-accelerated peripherals, while a True Random Number Generator and AES provide secure connectivity.

S3 Series - High Efficiency

S5 Series - High Integration
Extend productivity with the tightly integrated and high performance S5 Series. Eliminate expensive external SRAM components with 640KB on-chip SRAM for tasks such as buffering graphic frames to drive a color TFTLCD. Run algorithms with the single-precision Floating-Point Unit, manage connectivity, display graphics, and acquire high-precision analog data. Handle secure keys with built-in security functions such as RSA encryption and decryption.
