Overview

Description

The RAA279972 is a high-definition analog video decoder designed for automotive applications. It supports single-ended, differential, and pseudo-differential analog composite high-definition AHL video inputs. The high-quality 10-bit video ADC converts the signal to digital, and a proprietary AHL adaptive comb filter separates Luma and Chroma data to output a YUV422 digital video signal over a two-lane MIPI-CSI2 interface or a DVP/BT.656 parallel interface. The RAA279972 has integrated short-to-battery and short-to-ground detection and image enhancement features, making it an ideal solution for demanding high-resolution automotive camera applications. When paired with the RAA279971 encoder, an analog video link is established over a single wire pair.

FAQs

  1. Can I use the AHL Control Channel to initialize the camera from the ECU?

Yes, AHL's Control Channel works immediately after the chips are powered up. The Control Channel operates independently of the video, so video does not need to be actively transmitting for the Control Channel to work.

  2. Does AHL support GPIO data transmission via the Control Channel link?

Yes, there are between 2-7 GPIO's available, depending on which digital interface is used (MIPI = 7 GPIOs, BT.656 = 4 GPIOs, DVP = 2 GPIOs)

  3. Can AHL support power over the same cables (like SerDes)?

No, there will be too much noise for the analog signal, but we are looking at how to include power over the same cables in future generations of AHL.
