Overview

Description

Renesas' Air Conditioner Outdoor Unit (ODU) reference design is a total solution for controlling outdoor air conditioning units. It is used in combination with the MCI-HV-AC which is AC200V high-voltage inverter board, communication board, and peripheral devices. It is capable of evaluating and developing dual motor control with the provided permanent magnet (PM) sensorless vector control sample code.

Features

  • Reference design integrating the RX26T microcontroller and a 3-phase inverter circuit
  • Dual motor control function (compressor and fan)
  • Open-loop start (current pull-in control) during stop and low-speed operation
  • PM sensorless vector control using induced voltage observer during medium to high-speed operation (1-shunt and 3-shunt)
  • Flux weakening control for high-speed operation and maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control for IPMSM
  • Torque vibration suppression function, step-out detection, and flying start (catching control)
  • Single-phase and interleaved PFC control (power factor correction and boost function)
  • MCI-HV-AC inverter board features
    • Supports single-phase AC input (AC100V ~ 240V, 50Hz/60Hz)
    • Supports 2-motor (compressor, fan) control
    • Equipped with overcurrent detection, overvoltage protection, and overheat detection functions
    • Equipped with a four-way valve and expansion valve control interface
    • Equipped with temperature control sensor interface
    • Equipped with air conditioner indoor unit communication interface
