Overview

Description

This is a USB-certified reference design to convert USB-C input power supplied by a USB Type-C® sourcing device to DC output.

Because there are several losses on the cable, BB-VR, and board, the USB Power Delivery (PD) controller compensates for the USB-C input level to achieve the expected DC output. For example, when a Type-C sourcing device supplies up to 20V at 5A, the RTK-251-SinkAdapter can provide up to 20V at 4A to the DC output with these losses. The board also has an operating mode that feeds the USB-C input directly to the DC output. Switches connected to the R9A02G011 USB PD controller allow the selection of the DC output voltage/current and operating mode.

The firmware for this evaluation board is generated by an instruction tool called VIDWriter.
