This evaluation board is a reference design of PD controller R9A02G011 to work with Buck-Boost converter ISL95338/RAA489800, provide a complete solution for USB Type-C® power delivery (PD) applications.

The hardware able to support both source/sink power paths, make it suitable for Dual-Power Role (DRP) and Sink-only Role application.

  • From a DC source input and generate different output power to fulfill USB PD requirement (DC → USB PD)
  • Sinking power from USB Type-C® port and convert into system voltage requirement (USB PD → DC)

For firmware (software) design, this evaluation board comes with:

  • Firmware generation tool (PDC image generator, PDC-IMGGEN), a GUI tool enable engineer to tweak the required USB PD function, and with USB PD3.0 compliance firmware, providing fast turnaround solution for standard USB PD features.
  • Software Development Kit (SDK), with USB PD3.0 compliance firmware, providing great flexibility for engineer to utilize R9A02G011 PDC’s resource to implement additional or proprietary functions.

By providing such system level reference design, enable engineer to speed up USB PD product development cycle.

In addition, with specified firmware, the evaluation board able to work as a USB PD Exerciser, which is a tool to initiate and respond to USB PD commands like a real device. This function can be applied for study or analysis the response of USB PD communication.
