The Art of Networking (Series 2): PCIe goes Automotive

PCI-SIG has formed an Automotive working group in March 2021 that Renesas has joined straight away. Although PCIe is already used in today’s vehicles, PCI-SIG wants to evaluate what are potential use-cases for PCIe in the next generation vehicles and where PCIe specification needs to evolve further to be accepted as mature technology for high-speed data transfer. In this Automotive networking blog we give a brief background summary of PCIe, what are potential PCIe use-cases and what needs to be looked at to smoothen the adaption path of PCIe in the future automotive applications.
