Description

The Zone-ECU virtualization platform is a development tool that integrates multiple virtual electronic control units (ECUs) on a single physical ECU. This comprehensive platform combines Renesas' high-performance MCUs with ETAS' RTA-HVR hypervisor software, providing a pre-integrated environment for the rapid development of next-generation zonal E/E architectures. It supports the automotive industry's shift towards centralized E/E architectures, aiding in the creation of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) while reducing system complexity and cost.

System Benefits​:

  • Significantly reduces development effort with a pre-built design, lowering costs and development risks.
  • Combines the MCU hardware key features like hypervisor support, safety, security, and quality of service (QoS) with ETAS' outstanding software product portfolio and software competence, based on the collaboration between ETAS and Renesas.
  • Enables integration of multiple applications into a single ECU, ensuring they are safely and securely separated to maintain the highest degree of freedom from interference.
  • Provides a "ready-to-run" configuration showcasing various virtual machine (VM) setups (single-core, multi-core, and multi-VM per core) via a PC-hosted application.
