The F5701 is the 2nd generation mmWave up/down-converter by Renesas. It is optimized for 5G beamforming applications targeting n257/n258/n261 bands, and offers several upgrades in terms of RF performance and features. The device utilizes real-IF heterodyne architecture with low-side local oscillator (LO) injection to convert 2.5GHz to 6GHz IF signals to the 5G NR FR-2 bands spanning the 24.25 GHz to 29.5 GHz spectrum. External LO feed requirements are eased by the device’s two sequential on-chip LO frequency doublers which yield net multiplication factors of either 2x or 4x. All RF, IF, and LO ports employ single-ended 50Ω impedances for ease of integration into the signal path.
The F5701 is controlled through an advanced high-speed SPI protocol and packaged in 4.0 × 4.5 mm, 49-BGA package. It is rated for operation over the -40°C to 95°C temperature range.
