Overview
Description
Renesas' Metal Touch Solution applies capacitive touch technology using a Capacitive Touch Sensor Unit (CTSU) and a corresponding metal material overlay panel.
It is possible to assign multiple functions to a single button by determining the pressure applied from the amount of panel deflection as an added value.
Features
- Measure the change in capacitance caused by the deflection when pressing the button with a finger.
- Simultaneous detection of multiple button touches.
- Detection of three levels of touch intensity.
- User can adjust sensitivity and monitor changes in measured capacitance as a graph in real time by connecting with "QE for Capacitive Touch".
- Display the touched button number and provide feedback via a buzzer.

We introduce a Metal Touch Solution that improves product design by using metal panels as touch buttons. This solution not only enhances the appearance of products but also enables a user interface that is beyond the capability of conventional capacitive touch, as it can detect the strength of button presses.
